Biography

I was born in California to wonderful parents who immigrated from Guatemala City, Guatemala. I am a first-generation college graduate and feel like my accomplishments are that of all of my ancestors and family who have supported and guided me in new terrain of higher education. I am passionate about helping others and providing resources that can lead to a better quality of life for those with social economic disadvantage and vulnerable populations. I have enjoyed the opportunity I have to provide clinical therapy to Spanish-speaking individuals and families as a way to give back to my community. I have a husband who loves BYU as much as I do and have 4 children.

Teaching Interests

My teaching interests are in the area of field education and introduction to social work. I help students integrate real-life internship experiences and their relation with social work competencies and models. I also oversee everything to do with their internship placement from the beginning until they graduate.
