Biography
Dr. Sherinah Saasa is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Brigham Young University and a licensed therapist in private practice, with over a decade of experience in mental and behavioral health. She earned her bachelor’s degree from BYU-Idaho, her master’s degree from BYU, and her doctoral degree from the University of Georgia. Dr. Saasa’s research focuses on addressing inequality and poverty while promoting the mental health and well-being of underprivileged and vulnerable children in sub-Saharan Africa. Her research also examines exclusionary mechanisms that contribute to socio-economic and health disparities among Black immigrants in the United States.
